Microsoft announced that it is issuing an “end of life” upgrade for their browser, Internet Explorer. The browser has been struggling to keep up with competitors like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari for Mac, so Microsoft is pushing users to upgrade to the newest version, Internet Explorer 11, or their own browser, called Edge.
Internet Explorer users won’t lose the browser off their computer, but as of January 12, 2016, Microsoft has stopped upgrading it, meaning that it will be more susceptible to bugs and malware.
How This May Affect Your Website
We want to warn our clients about this upcoming change because if you are using an outdated version of Internet Explorer, you may start to notice images not aligning correctly and breaks in your site. If you are noticing any unusual issues using an out-dated browser such as Internet Explorer, try switching to a more up-to-date browser. Our Lead User Experience Designer, Raudel Enrique, suggests using Google Chrome because it stays current and displays all of our clients’ websites properly. (Download Google Chrome in a few simple steps here).
Raudel also assures clients that all of our Exclusive Themes are built to be displayed on many different browsers, such as Safari, Chrome, Edge, and Mozilla Firefox. Before we take a client’s website live, we test to ensure it is optimized for all different screen sizes and browsers.
The end of Internet Explorer is a step in the direction of promoting new technology and more powerful browsers. Here at FMG Suite, we make great looking websites that function properly across different browsers and platforms and test them extensively to make sure that everything displays properly.
Our Vice President of Creative, Brandon Brown, explains that although Internet Explorer’s older versions will forgo updates, we will continue to make sure that all of our sites render correctly as long as the browser is used by our clients. If advisors are worried that their site will no longer work on older versions of browsers, they should know that we will continue to monitor the most used browsers until they become completely obsolete.
FMG Suite’s development team is always keeping up with the data regarding our advisors’ sites. Rest assured, if you have a site with FMG, we do everything we can to make sure it is displayed properly.
