A few weeks ago, we sent out a survey to our marketing tips newsletter subscribers. We were pleased to see so many of you share your thoughts!

At FMG Suite, we aim to be as transparent as possible. One of those ways is by sharing your feedback. This survey helped us learn about what you want to see more of and what we could do better.

We thought we’d share the results so you can see what others said and know what we plan to implement and change in the coming months.

Ideally, how often would you prefer to receive marketing tip newsletters?

We understand how valuable your time is, so we don’t want to make an appearance in your inbox more often than you’d like. Currently, we send out our newsletter weekly, but we weren’t sure if that was too often.

However, nearly half of you said you wanted to receive a newsletter weekly, as opposed to every other week or once a month. In the future, we’d love to be able to offer you an option, but for now we’ll continue sending newsletters once a week.

What topics would you like to see more of?

We try to cover as many marketing topics as we can, but we realize some are more important than others for financial advisors. We asked surveyors to pick as many topics as they’d like to see us cover, and we were surprised to see two topics leave the rest in the dust.

An overwhelming number of you want to see more about email marketing and social media. And very few of you want to see more content on presentations and blogging. While the writer in us is gutted to see little interest in blogging, we understand that social media and email marketing can make the biggest impact for advisors on a limited budget and schedule.

Also interesting, many of you wanted to see more about general business tips. In the past, we’ve shied away from covering this, but based on this feedback, we plan to add more content featuring advice and tips on entrepreneurship, leadership, organization, and other business topics.

How would rate our current newsletter content, with 5 being the highest quality?

This is the scariest question we could ask, but we knew it had to be included in the survey. We breathed a sigh of relief when most of you gave us a 4. We’re glad to know you enjoy our content and that there’s some room for improvement.

What could we do better? Are there any specific topics or questions you would like us to cover on our blog?

These two questions were a bit of a mixed bag, but many of your comments were very helpful. A few common threads were a desire for more information on:

  • The DoL fiduciary rule and its impact on marketing
  • LinkedIn strategies
  • Free marketing strategies
  • Real advisor stories
  • Creating client questionnaires

We plan on covering these topics and others you suggested in the coming months.
