How This Advisor Became the Local Expert AI Recommends

Ryan Schebo launched Modern Money Wealth Advisors in February of this year — and within months, Copilot was ranking him number one in his local market.

In this session, Samantha Russell sits down with Ryan to walk through exactly what he did: how he structures his blog content, why he treats press releases as an algorithm signal rather than publicity, and how his Google Business Profile and LinkedIn presence work together to build the kind of authority AI search tools look for before recommending an advisor.

Join Samantha and Ryan for a real, behind-the-scenes look at what it actually takes to become the advisor AI recommends in your own local market.

Attach Author Bios and Dates to Every Blog Post [8:11]

  • Add your name, photo, and a publish date to every article — AI’s recency bias means it rarely cites sources older than six months
  • Don’t skip the date out of fear it’ll look stale; an undated post is the bigger red flag to AI search
  • Attribute each post to a specific author so AI associates that person’s name with the topics they write about

Build Topical Authority With One Theme a Month [14:19]

  • Assign one advisor per core subject area (estate planning, tax, college planning) so AI has one clear name to surface for that topic
  • Publish at least two blog posts a month as the floor to signal an active, regularly updated site
  • Cluster that month’s social posts, blog, and emails around one theme so AI sees enough volume to call you the authority on it

  • Issue a press release for any new service, award, or tool rollout — even ones you’ve already quietly offered for years
  • Submit through a wire service like PR Newswire and choose local or national reach based on budget
  • Think of press releases as feeding the algorithm first, publicity second — each one reinforces the subject area you want to own

Alright. Well, let’s go ahead. Keep all the comments coming. We’d love an interactive chat, and we want this to be interactive.

Ryan is here and willing to answer any and all questions that he can. So if you have a question that you don’t want to get buried, you can put that in the q and a box. If you want it to be something everybody sees and interacts with, you can put that in the chat. But just to go through formal introductions, hello.

I’m Samantha Russell, the chief evangelist here at FMG. And joining me is Ryan. Ryan, do you wanna introduce yourself?

Yeah. My name is Ryan Chibo, financial planner with Modern Money Wealth Advisors and Prudential Wealth Advisors, in the Dayton, Dayton, Ohio area.

Nice. And we’re gonna talk a little bit about your story and everything. But just for those of you who are new to FMG since we do have some new faces here, FMG is really the all in one marketing and communication platforms for advisors, and there’s multiple layers to this. So some of you listening may currently use, one part of FMG. Maybe you only use it for your website or maybe use our marketing tools. Others of you combine lots of different elements together.

Ryan, what are you using of our tools?

I know you’re you’re on our do it for me platform and you have a lot Yeah.

I am done do it for me right now. And that actually encompasses an enormous amount of, marketing and and catch all for us. And so we’ve been really siloed and do it for me for right now. Been amazing.

We’ll talk a little bit about how that plays into your strategy. But so again, if you’re new and you’re just listening in, you’re gonna get great takeaways. But if you’re wondering, how does FMG help with these things, there is lots of layers to how we can help. Everything from helping you collect testimonials and reviews compliantly to managing your website to pushing out social media, emails.

Basically, anything you can think of that touches your marketing, we can help you with when it comes to organic marketing. So, welcome to everybody who is new here. And just a few housekeeping items, this session will be recorded, and we always do share the slides. Although today, we’re doing something a little different. We wanted this to be very interactive and conversational. So most of what we’re gonna do is gonna be Ryan and I having a conversation, and then we’ll pull up some things in the browser.

But we’ll also… Again, we’ll talk about where does FMG fit into all of this. So if anyone has a question right at the top that they would love to make sure we address, please go ahead and put that in either the chat or the q and a so we can see the top things that everybody wants us to talk about, whether it’s showing up in AI search or what part of the marketing Ryan is outsourcing versus what he’s doing himself, how much he’s spending, how many hours per week, all that good stuff. But why don’t we start, Ryan, with you telling us a little bit about your firm, Modern Money Wealth Advisors? Advisors.

Sure. Thank you. We started…

We launched Modern Money with Prudential Wealth Advisors back in really February of this year. Previous to that, we had been with another broker dealer and we moved over to LPL really about two years ago. And I met Samantha about three years ago on a Clark Capital webinar they had that was absolutely mind blowing to me. We had been doing our marketing previously, our social posts.

We had been doing cards, letters, those types of things direct to clients. And I love marketing.

It’s just that I’m a financial advisor. I run the business. And so super difficult to have all of that responsibility and you always have to keep marketing to stay in front of new clients and prospects.

So as we made the changeover and made the adjustment to the DBA Modern Money Wealth Advisors, we went all in. We were obviously vetting a number of different places, but FMG was just had the all encompassing options that we really thought were incredibly important. And one of those was the Clark Capital meeting we had, which was really focused on the AI, Samantha’s approach or AI’s ability to get you visible. She told a story earlier this year about a library that went on fire.

And you can imagine all of those records being destroyed. And now we’re the part of rebuilding all that back up. And I have, I’m 47, I’ve got ways to go in this business. So modern money needs to be visible in the way people actually interact with AI now.

I thought that to be incredibly important. And the one company that I felt out of all my research did what we needed it to do on the AI space side was FMG. It has been an incredible experience from literally from day one. So I love that.

Yeah.

So let’s just pull up your website and look at some of the things that you have. So, again, it is a new page. One thing that a lot of people will ask is if I just launch a new website, how long is it gonna take for, you know, AI to start citing me? And the thing is for really broad terms.

Right? Like, best financial adviser for pre retirees. Well, first of all, that may never happen for that broad of a term. But in your local area, even, it can take a while.

However, there are certain things you can do that really, really help move the needle. One thing that, you know, when you look at your blog page here, you’ve got these articles that are really, really specific, the types of things people are worried about, questions that they’re, you know, dealing with, and then you are listed as the author. So anybody listening to this, if you currently have a blog, whether you have multiple advisers at your firm or it’s just you, you always want to make sure two things. You have an author attached to each blog post or each article as well as a date, and there’s two reasons for this.

Number one, AI has what we call a recency bias, so it is constantly looking for the freshest information. I’m sure you remember, Ryan, even a few years ago, if you did a Google search, you could find an article or a blog from four or five years previously had been published. That is not the case anymore. You will see that the content referenced is usually published within the last six months or so.

So we want to add fresh content because of this recency bias. The other thing is your picture, right, and your face, and that it mentions you as the author. For all of you, what are you really ultimately trying to do? You’re trying to be seen as the expert or the authority around certain topics related to financial planning, investment management, all of that. And so by attaching yourself as the author for these articles, you’re telling AI when someone is searching for your name, Ryan, all these pieces that come up next to it, it associates you as being an expert in those areas. So I just wanted to point that out because I still see so many websites where people are not doing this, or they think I don’t wanna add a date because then the blog goes out of date so fast. Right?

And so let’s talk a little bit about your blog. I know this is something we’re helping you with, Ryan. Do you wanna tell everybody a little bit about how it works?

Yeah. It’s it’s…

They have the the portal that you can go into and and a lot a lot a lot of different topics that you can choose from. And they can be video, which I’ll be launching video blogs when I’m building a studio right now to do that. Right now, it’s just the dated my name, and then can kind of pick the content and then they recommend some things as well. So it’s super relevant.

It’s super, you know, things that people are thinking about right now. And it’s delivered in my opinion, in a very beautiful way, which is important to me. I don’t want people going to my site where I would create my own blog and the visuals are off or I couldn’t get it right or something like that. But it’s a system that they have in place, I think with FMG, The do it for me program that we have is easy, so easy on our end to be able to implement our plan, which our plan is to have the recency.

Plan is to have the blogs. Our plan is to have press releases. Our plan is to have a lot of nice social posts that people actually have impressions on and look at because they’re so beautiful, and very well written. And all of that attaches to that search that people are looking for.

And that’s what keeps you relevant and in front of people, or I should say, they’re searching, being visible. That’s very important.

So for example, because people are asking who’s writing what? So, this is one that we provided, our team provided for you. Were any of these ones that you wrote, or are you utilizing our content?

There’s there’s a option inside of there that there’s one in there that I wrote, and it really was. It was a AI, an AI help on a topic. And that AI help was really, really designed to create a blog that I would want to control or I would want to give the topic and then help or have the AI, option in there to help write it. And that’s really what I did on on on a couple of different blogs that we did. But the rest of them are gonna be, the the recommended content through, FMG.

So I’m gonna stop sharing. We’re gonna talk through these, and then I’m gonna…

I’ll pull the the screen back up. But just a few things because I see so many good questions. Number one, in our FMG platform with any of the blogs, you can, you know, certainly, you can make them your own. You can customize them.

You can edit them however you want. With the do it for me program, though, Ryan, right, your concierge that you’re paired with is gonna say, here’s what we recommend that you post this month. You can also supplement with other pieces. If we know you are targeting small business owners, we can say, here’s these other pieces that you could use.

You can also come to us and say, hey. I wrote this piece, or I wanna make this piece more my own. So it’s really gonna depend upon your unique circumstances. I saw a question in there asking which…

You know, how do you know whether to attribute it to yourself or someone else on your team? But for you right now, would just be you. Right?

You It would be me just because we’re trying to get that promotion out there.

And so I’m staying super, super consistent with it. I have a couple other guys on the team that they’re doing amazing things. They’re so wrapped up or so busy in doing what it is that they do, but we’re gonna be adding them into the equation starting in January. But right now it is just me as the author of these blogs.

Yep. So if you have a larger firm, when it comes to how do you pick, what I would suggest is think about the idea that AI is looking for the most obvious answer to the question of who’s the best fit for the prospect to help them with x. So you wanna think about pillars of expertise. So I would choose one adviser, for instance, to put all of your estate planning related articles under and one adviser to put anything related to tax and one adviser to put anything relating to helping families with college planning.

Not that everybody doesn’t have those capabilities necessarily, but what that’s really gonna do is allow AI to…

It’s it’s putting, you know, a lot more emphasis on one person and you’re upping your chances that that person will be found and seen as an authority for that topic. So that’s how I would choose, keeping in mind that you probably want everybody to be on the blog at least once a month. And then there was another article about the recommended number of posts per month.

We recommend at least two per month, and that is what we give you with the do it for me program. And then there’s optional ones to add, but at least twice a month shows these algorithms that the blog and the website are active and being updated regularly.

And one other question, what about taking the blogs and reading them to make a video? And, Ryan, I don’t know. You can maybe tell us a little bit. Yes.

100%, everyone. You can take any of the content and repurpose it into a podcast, a webinar. But how are you, I’ll let you answer this. What are you planning to do for your video content?

For my video content, you can do, I’m deciding right now, but but there is, like teleprompters that you can get that you can feed the language in there so you can visually see the camera or look at the camera when you’re delivering the content.

But it some would recommended content from FMG and then it would be topics that are personal to mefinancial that have meaning. So I think that is what also attracts people is putting a personal story to it, putting a personal flare where it’s relatable. It’s not just AI creating something and then you’re delivering that. You’re delivering it in your style with your story. I think that makes a massive difference in the attachment rate that you’d have with somebody reading through the whole thing and and, you know, asking to contact you.

Oh, 100%. The more you make it your own, share, you know, your personal stories, 100%.

Yeah.

I’m gonna keep going through the questions coming in. Somebody asked, does AI like it better if you pose the blog as a question? You will see that a lot of the blog titles are questions. Here’s one for November.

Does your Medicare premium reflect your income? That’s because we know that AI is looking for the direct answer to a direct question. So, yes, you don’t need to make every single blog a blog post title a question, But maybe within the blog, then you have additional questions laid out like the last example I just showed. So, yes, it definitely helps.

And then another question about, could you use this in Canada? Absolutely. We have a ton of Canadian customers.

Okay. So let’s talk a little bit more. So this is the overall edit… You can see my screen. Right? The editorial calendar?

Yes.

Okay. So this is the the overall calendar. And why don’t we talk through a little bit about how you approach your marketing every month? So you are given this calendar, Ryan, and then what happens?

So we have a meeting with our concierge, and our concierge will go through each topic, each each selection, each, post, whether it be social media or blog or different events that you can actually do from a they can kind of give us ideas on what we should do with clients. So all of that is discussed in our meeting usually early on in the month, and that’ll go through that month. You can add stuff if you want, you can delete stuff if you don’t like the content or something like that. It is so amazing how easy and how much it’s taken off of my plate from an owner perspective and an advisor who’s still acquiring and growing.

It has just completely taken over that side of the business that is super important to me and our team.

But I don’t have to put two or three hours a day trying to create content that’s relevant.

It’s all done inside of there, inside of FMG.

And I think that’s such a huge part that people forget is that when it comes to these websites and how much content you really need to be relevant to show your expertise. You know, you mentioned you just launched this not that long ago, and you’re already seeing the impact in AI search. Right?

Yeah. Saw in Copilot in Copilot just in six months, I think it was. We were ranked number one in a in, like, in a simple and search. And so I thought, my goodness, this is incredible. And so that’s just, you know, we do the press releases because that hits Yeah.

Tell us a little bit about that because I don’t think everybody knows about the press release strategy. So tell us a little bit about how you use press releases.

Yeah. So the press releases… An an AI algorithm is gonna go look for Modern Money or Ryan Chivo or something like that to gather information. And so anytime we can get that information out via a press release, we’re going to do that.

We have a new offering for a client like we use a system called Nitrogen, which gives a client a risk score for their investments. Obviously, we’re going to like do a press release on that. They have a press release already made. So we supply that to the news organizations and then they post it. Any awards that are received, we do press releases. In conjunction with the social media posts and the reviews, the Google reviews, I believe have really elevated our aware or, yeah, our visibility on AI just from those few different things that we do.

So A few things that Ryan touched on that many of you may not know.

So the AI tools are looking for where…

Who are you…

What subject areas are you an expert in, and how much authority do you have? When you issue a press release and it goes out, local news organizations, sometimes Yahoo News, they all…

People don’t realize they all just kinda get picked up and republished. That’s the way these PR Newswire and these news releases work. What happens is now your firm name gets associated with a large domain of authority like Yahoo News or your local newspaper, And it is publishing a story. Even though you wrote the story, it lends credibility to your firm.

So even if you’ve, you know, let’s say, always helped families with college planning, but you wanna be more well known for that. Or you’ve always done estate planning, but you realize you didn’t talk about it that much on your website. A lot of clients don’t know you do it. You could issue a press release even if it’s, you know, something you’ve already done.

And now you’re telling the AI very directly, this is something you do. Absolutely. When you win an award, you wanna do that. But these AI tools love press releases, and it really helps them find you is the best way I can think about it.

And so you mentioned about Nitrogen was one. Is there any other press releases you can think of that you Yeah.

Any of the the Forbes awards are all press releases. Any of any of the awards internally through Prudential, I would do a press release on.

But you know, sometimes we think of we have to think of it differently in my opinion, because like when we do a press release, it’s like, oh, I want I want the people to read that in the news and and see that we’re doing good or something something along those lines. But I’m doing press releases in a completely different mindset. Yes, I want the public to know the different things that we’re doing, which are pretty cool. But my reasoning for doing a lot of these things now has completely changed.

It’s all to drive algorithm like awareness, algorithm awareness. That’s all we’re doing press releases for because we want to have a strong AI ability. Yeah, exactly. That’s why we’re doing it.

And honestly, this is all Samantha Russell back three years ago when I was just like chomping at the bit to do it and I couldn’t because of we were going through many changes in the background. And so when we got ready to do it this February, like we went pedal to the metal and you can listen to this, you can listen to Samantha and hear all of these little tidbits. But if you’re not actionable on it, nothing will happen with progressing your visibility. And we’re in a timeframe where I believe wholeheartedly that we’re in a massive change of what people are doing from a search perspective.

And I definitely wanna be top of mind. And so we actively try to do these things to make sure that we are and can stay there.

So I mean, think about everybody listening. How many of you have already used Claude, Copilot, Google Gemini, ChatGPT today? You know? You could tell us in the chat, but I don’t have all the slides from previous presentations, but this is rapidly changing and is predicted in the next twelve months that AI search will completely overtake traditional search.

And for clients, a lot of times, they might already be working with you. Right? And they’re going in…

Sure many of you have had a client come in with a printout saying, ChachiBT told me I should ask you this, or Claude told me I should ask you that. One of the questions is about what you use for press releases. We use PR Newswire, and then there’s options. Do I wanna send it out nationally or just to the local area?

So you set up an account with them. You you submit the press release. You pick the date and time you want it to go out, and then there’s different options of how much it costs depending on how…

You want it more national, regional, local. So Ryan, wanna tell everybody, what do you use?

So we all used, local. And a little a little factoid, I think that’s kinda cool is is if you know news personalities locally, go to LinkedIn and like them and get to be friends with them or follow them and start communicating with them, because then that can be an asset in your back pocket to be able to send a press release to.

And they’ll have a little bit of background on you because you’re following them or you’re friends with them. That’s been helpful. We’ve done that with Biz Journal in Dayton. And so we’ve done a lot of local Fox ABC, affiliates and, the the, Biz Journal. Okay.

Those are the ones that I have really Somebody, Jim just talked about in the chat that the local community has lost a lot of the local media, local newspapers.

So the ones that are left, they are dying for people to engage with them. So we are. Take that strategy. You know, if you’re a journalist, they’re not making much money.

Not a lot of people are reading what they write or interacting with it if they are reading it. So if you take time to connect with them on LinkedIn, engage with them there, say, hey. I I…

Before you ever pitch them anything, hey. I saw that article you wrote. That’s amazing. They will be so much more likely to pay attention to you because not a lot of people are paying attention to them, truly.

So the reciprocity angle there is huge. Let’s change gears a little bit and talk about the client reviews. I’m gonna pull my screen back up. And you mentioned Google.

Let’s just see if I pull it up here. So we can see here’s your Google business page, and I know a lot of advisers are still being told by home office compliance that they are not able to utilize, reviews and testimonials just yet. If that is you and you want some help, by the way, we at FMG are currently working with most broker dealers to evaluate our FMG testimonial product, which allows you to collect the reviews compliantly and then either put them on your website and or push out to Google. And we are onboarding broker dealers pretty much…

It feels like every month at this point, but we’re always looking for advisers who are really passionate about it to, you know, also champion it and talk with their home office. So if you would like to connect with us, we have a, like, a out of the box kit that we can give you that talks about how it is compliant, how the SEC marketing rule was passed five years ago. We have the protocols in place for you to collect them. But talk to us a little bit about your Google profile because one of the things I noticed right away, you have some photos, and this is something I coach people on.

You want to make sure on your Google business profile, you have a picture of you, a picture of your logo, some pictures of your office, at least six pictures. It doesn’t actually matter as much what the pictures are, but that you fill it out and that you put your, you know, your phone number, your hours of operation. So when did you do all of this, Ryan?

So I did that, oh, boy, in March of this year and we had a, we had, it was tied to Prudential and Prudential Wealth Advisors and Modern Money had the same address. So I got kicked out of doing the confirmation for Modern Money at that location for probably three months. And finally, I did probably 20 videos trying to get it approved.

So it finally got approved and that’s when everything kind of lit up with kind of people going in and reviewing and we could add pictures and we were visible and stuff. And that’s really what I think helped the algorithms.

A 100%.

Yeah, For sure.

So if you even look down here is…

You know, people also ask, is Modern Wealth Management…

That’s not even your name, but these are the types of things. If someone is referred to a business, they’re no longer gonna just take their friend’s word for it. You know? Sometimes they will, but they’re still gonna wanna go read reviews.

96% of consumers who are referred to a financial adviser want to read reviews from that adviser. And the AI tools, what’s the first thing they look for if someone’s asking, is this a legitimate company? Are they a good fit for people like me? They’re gonna go look at what have real clients who’ve worked with this firm said.

So that is one of the reasons why reviews and testimonials are huge for this new world of AI. There’s three things you wanna think about. Right? You wanna have an area of expertise that you are an authority in.

And so that’s, you know, honing in on that content, adding those blog posts to your website. Then you want to show through social proof that, yes, you know, I am an authority, and I am legitimate. You do that through the client reviews and testimonials. And then you wanna make sure that the content is formatted in a way that AI likes and can find and is verifiable through other sources.

That’s where, like, those press releases or getting quoted in an an article is is key. So that is why, Ryan, you hit the nail on the head. It was so important that you get this. Someone asked a question, and I don’t know if this is kinda what you were referring to.

They said, we have a co sharing office location. So we run into this sometimes where people have a co working space or they have multiple locations. Is that what you were running into?

Yes. That’s exactly what I was running into. And so when we had it rebranded and all the signs were up and everything was Modern Money Wealth Advisors, not Prudential, I don’t know why it took me so long to get it approved through Google, but it did.

But once it approved it, approved the video and the location, there’s no issue at all. It just… It’s it’s nice.

So, yeah, Avery just said, I know it asks for a video. Yep. And yeah, I think sometimes you might have to do what Ryan did and just submit it a few times, and I know that’s a headache. But once you do it, it’s done.

And the, you know, the value of it is huge because these AI tools, again, they are looking for legitimacy. So we also have a tool at FMG where we can help you with your directory listings. So, there’s something called structured data in the way that you have, you know, your listings in lots of places, local listings on your website, on your Google My Business, and you wanna make sure they’re consistent across all these properties. So that’s something else we can help you with if that is something you’re struggling with.

We’re gonna get into more questions and more about you, Ryan, but I think that, I’m gonna pull this back up because we had some people asking in the q and a about just, again, how it works. So for some of you who are using FMG but you’re not with do it for me or you are not using FMG at all, basically, what this program is, you’re paired with the concierge. And then as Ryan said at the beginning of the month, you meet with that concierge. And what kind of meeting is that, Ryan? Is it like a virtual meeting?

Yep. It’s a virtual meeting. Screen sharing and and and discussion. Yep.

And you go through this calendar, you say yes or no, or could you via email if you wanted to just say, yep. The calendar looks good this month?

You can. Yep.

Okay. And then what about personalizing anything? Are you able to send in pictures for social media or add other things to be scheduled? Absolutely.

Very, very flexible. That’s why it’s such a, I mean, an amazing program. It’s super flexible.

You can go as heavy as you want to, as light as you want to.

And the concierge will do whatever you need them to do. And it’s such a time saver on my assistant and our marketing strategy, because it’s not a cut and paste type of thing.

Have skin in the game with the decisions you’re making on posting.

But it’s kind of a nice platform that gives you the content that you need to deliver to people nowadays. And I don’t have the time to do all that anymore. And if you heard what Samantha said, there’s so many details that go into being visible on AI. I have no idea how to do that other than like listening to a podcast and implement, implement, implement.

That’s what we’re here for to tell them.

And I just wanted to point out to one of the things that a lot of people don’t realize, and you’ll notice if you look at this. So if you notice for this month, it’s all about Medicare, right? So we have social posts about Medicare, blog posts about Medicare, emails about Medicare. Then for you, we give you a every month, a podcast or webinar outline.

It’s about Medicare. There is a reason behind this, everyone. AI wants to see a lot of different pieces of content around one topic so it can associate you as that authority or expert with that subject area. So if somebody’s talking to AI and they’re like, hey, I live in Centerville and I am getting ready to retire and they start asking questions about Medicare, it’s going to be able to pull up Ryan’s local presence, his great client reviews, and then see all this content around Medicare, and he will be served up as the answer, which is why you’re starting to see, Ryan, that payoff.

So that is the strategy behind this. Right? What we see a lot of advisers do is they just do one blog post on it and maybe one social post and kinda swarming around a topic for the month, whether you use FMG or not, by the way, that is what you want to do. And that is how we design this.

We also give you marketing tips, video scripts, so you can go as all in as you want, but our team at a minimum is gonna execute the emails, blog posts, and social posts and then personalize them. And then every month, we’ll put any new leads into different drips, any new clients into this new client welcome series. So, again, Ryan, the nurture aspect of it, you know, we know one of the top reasons someone leaves an adviser is that they feel that they want more communication and more service, and those touch points matter. So I’m gonna ask you a question.

But while we’re doing that, we’re getting some questions in the chat, Morgan, about how can we get connected. So this is a good time to launch the poll.

I know that there’s a lot of information here, and we’re gonna give you more tips. But if you would like to learn more about, you know, how you can become more recommended by AI and how can help through our services, just say yes, and we will be able to see that you said yes and send you an email to connect, kinda see where you’re at, how you’re faring in AI visibility, and then how we can help you improve it.

So going to… I’m gonna pull up your LinkedIn here.

And one of the questions I wanted to… Or things I wanted to point out is that you… You know, on LinkedIn, you have a beautiful, by the way, banner, and I love that you’ve got your, award. I have gotten asked by a lot of people, should I remove this in light of the shook research?

No. Don’t.

My Yeah. I was gonna say, so tell us why you left it up.

No, yeah, and I got it four years in a row I think with Shook.

So we updated every single year, which is nice that we take it in, but 99.999% of the public have no clue what happened with So why would you remove that suite of credibility you know, what people are visibly seeing about you in in public when they don’t even know what happened with with Yeah.

And people recognize the name Forbes. And as far as we can tell from our research, no one is getting any negative rankings from the scandal. If anything, it… The AI tools is still seeing it as a… Forbes is a legitimate thing.

So it… I would not remove it, and it is a great idea in your banner to include any awards if you have them.

I just wanted to point out though, you know, here’s again…

So you saw the blog that was about that same topic. Now here’s an example of it as a social post. Another best practice that a lot of people don’t realize is you you do have your location. A lot of people will just put, like, nationwide or US because they’re remote and they wanna take clients on anywhere.

The AI is…

The AI tools love LinkedIn. It is one of the top cited sources for them. So if someone’s searching your name, AI is gonna look at your website, your client reviews, but your LinkedIn page is the top place. And so putting your location is key.

Even if you have multiple locations, I would just choose one and maybe the one where you actually are, you serve the most clients, and include it. And then I also, you know, would even caution or, you know, advise you here, and, Ryan, you can even think about changing this. Yep. Your title is huge.

So, yes, you wanna put that you’re a financial planner and not just, like, financial adviser. Yeah. You wanna say, you know, who you’re with. But if compliance allows, if you can get even more specific about who you serve or specific services you offer, that is really key for AI visibility as well.

Nice. That’s good. That’s good. I’ll update that. Thank you.

You’re welcome. Okay. So talk to us a little bit about your, you know, you’re posting this content, you’re connecting with journalists, you’re issuing press releases. Is there any other, you know, maybe bigger steps you’ve taken that you can see have made a huge difference in your AI visibility?

I would say maybe not AI visibility, but our connection with the communications we have on the email side, Samantha, and then Okay.

Maybe what we’re doing. But but the the the nature of the content that is delivered and created through FMG is just, it’s so beautiful. Like when somebody opens, it’s inviting to open.

And I really am a stickler on when somebody gets something from me and it’s in like a standard envelope. I don’t like that direct mail. I want something elevated to a client. So when you’re picking something, make it be something that you would want to open on your own. And so that’s why I picked FMG for sure, because the content and the deliverables are just beautifully done on a presentation side of the client through emails, or through the events and the RSVP ing that you can do.

Anyway, that’s No, that’s great.

Actually Yeah, it’s a valuable, valuable thing for our practice. And then you can check and see, you know, who opened the email, what your rates were of openness. And so it gives you that data to show what you’re doing is successful or not.

That way Down to the person.

Right? Like, you have a Down to the person. It’s amazing. Look and see how many times has, you know, Jim Smith opened my emails, and you can even see what subjects he opened.

So if you notice that Jim opens every email you send about, you know, buying a second home or retirement, you know, spending and things like that, you can reach out to him and say, you don’t wanna be too creepy. You can let him know that you can see what he’s reading and maybe pitch a conversation that way. Also, on your website, if you use any of our lead gen capture, you can automatically pull people that download your estate planning guide or your tax strategy guide into a certain email group. And I know your firm is still getting set up with a lot of that, but do you have multiple lists that you manage with your email?

Yeah. We do our RSVPs for our events that we do, like the clients that would go to that. We have the age categories, so you can, forty to fifty year olds or forty to forty nine year olds, you can direct deliver content to them based off of their age and you can create a lot of different subcategories.

So you’re delivering that experience that is relevant to that person and their age instead of just blanket marketing.

You can be really surgical and strategic that way.

It’s so true. And then you… People always worry they’re sending too many emails. We say at a minimum, you wanna send two a month. But if you think about it, if you’ve got people segmented, which, again, if you’re with our do it for me program, that’s something the concierge can help you with. But when you segment people, you’re not scared that you’re sending too much because you know it’s hyperspecific to what they’re interested in.

And emails do not affect your AI visibility necessarily, but what they do affect is your website traffic overall. And healthy website traffic does correlate with better visibility. So when you’re pushing a bunch of people to go read a… You know, something on your website, that can really help. Plus, it’s just great for the human side of the interaction.

And actually to that point, one of the things we talk about in our monthly meeting with Ted is the website visibility and the tracking and so forth. So that is part of our meeting. It’s not just, do you want to send this post or not? It kind of covers what is our open rate?

What does our website look like? And stuff like that. I don’t have time to do any of that, but I’m forced to have time to do it when we have the thirty minute meeting or forty five minute meeting with Ted, which is perfect amount of time for me to say yes, no, yes, no. And boom, I’m on to the next.

Right.

I can’t do that just, you know, with the scheduling that advisors have.

So I love that so much.

And I… We always wanna keep these to forty five minutes or less because we are aware of all of your time speaking of time. So if you missed the poll earlier, here is the email. My team personally sees every one of these emails, or you can just use the QR code there to book a time with us if we didn’t get to answer your question today, or you have any follow-up questions. But I think at the end of the day, Ryan, I’d love to just… You know, we’d love to hear maybe one more thing from you on do you find that the do it for me program, and what you’re working with FMG on is directly correlated to you increasing your AI visibility and being number one, for so many of the searches related to your local area?

It is. It is the only reason.

It is. I’m not even joking. The only reason and there are people that start their websites on their own and and that is not for me. There’s no way.

So So having do it for me is the only reason why we’re getting traction through AI is because not only do they have the content, but they also have the advice on what we should be doing and at what time we should be doing that, which is so valuable to us.

And so Thank you.

I love it. And, yes, shout out to Ted. We are amazing concierge. The reason behind all of this.

Well, thank you everybody for all the great questions and feedback. If you have, again, further questions, you can email us, there, or if we…

We’ll try to look through the chat. You will be given, the recording of today’s session. And, if there’s anything else we can, you know, help you with, we’d love to. We’d love to work with all of you to make you more visible to AI.

And the thing I really love about this moment is we’re not all competing for the same slice of the pie. At the end of the day, AI is really making it so that the exact right fit customer is gonna find you. And so the more great information you could put out that you help with those types of things, the more likely they are to find you, and we know the formula to make it happen. So we love to partner with you, Ryan, and thank you for your time.

And we’ll see you all on the next one.

Bye.

Bye.

GOT QUESTIONS?

Questions and Answers from Workshop

How long does it take for AI tools to start recommending a new website? +
AI engines don't start citing new sites overnight, especially for broad terms like "best financial advisor." However, you can speed up the process by consistently publishing fresh, dated content that directly answers specific questions your prospects are asking.
Why should I include my name and date on every blog post? +
AI engines have a strong recency bias, preferring content published within the last six months. Adding a clear publication date shows search tools that your site is active. Attributing yourself as the author trains AI to recognize your name as a go-to authority on those specific planning topics.
How do local press releases help with AI search visibility? +
When you distribute a press release through a wire service, it gets picked up by major media outlets and local news sites. AI engines trust these high-authority news domains. When your firm name appears on those sites, it signals to AI that your practice is legitimate and established in your community.
Do online client reviews actually affect AI recommendations? +
Yes. AI answer engines pull from the same trust signals people use, including review recency, volume, and rating average. A steady stream of fresh Google reviews proves to AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity that real clients trust your firm right now.
How should I optimize my LinkedIn profile for AI search? +
AI search engines heavily index LinkedIn. To help them route local prospects to you, list your specific geographic location and refine your headline to name your exact client niche and credentials. Adding awards or recognition badges to your profile banner gives both AI and prospective clients instant visual proof of your credibility.
What is the best way to structure content so AI can easily find it? +
Theme your content around a single topic for the month. When you publish a blog post, send an email newsletter, and share social posts all centered on the same subject (such as Medicare or business exit strategies), you build a dense footprint of expertise that AI tools can easily parse and cite.
How does FMG’s "Do It For Me" (DIFM) program help busy advisors? +
DIFM pairs you with a dedicated marketing concierge who handles the heavy lifting of your marketing strategy. Every month, your concierge plans, writes, and schedules your blog posts, emails, and social media content, ensuring your practice stays visible in AI search without taking hours away from your client work.
