We’re pumped to continue with our “Meet the Team” blog series, and for this month’s, we caught up with Customer Service Manager, Bryson Mooso. When he isn’t looking for ways to better serve our clients, he loves woodworking, art and reading!
To learn more about Bryson and what he does in his free time, be sure to check out our next “Meet the Team” blog.
To kick things off, where are you from, and where do you live now?
I am from a little town in Washington called Walla Walla.
Walla Walla Washington. (say that 5 times fast!)
I live in Lehi, Utah now. A beautiful place, but doesn’t quite roll off the tongue the same way!
As a Customer Service Manager, you lead a team of Customer Service Representatives to ensure that our customers get the best service possible. You do an excellent job of keeping everything running smoothly, so hats off to you! What is your favorite part about this role?
I love improving things. Long-term sustainable improvements that make people’s lives easier! I love finding ways to better serve our clients and to refine our product. It is extremely rewarding to see how far we have come through constantly evaluating our processes and methods and pushing the envelope to deliver the best service we can.
Building a strong, efficient, and successful team is definitely my favorite part of this role!
Do you have any particular success stories that really stood out or “Aha” moments from your role that you would like to share?
As a manager, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing your team succeed and enjoy what they do. I feel most successful when my team has all the tools they need and loves what they do! A manager is really only as good as the team that surrounds them, so I love to mentor and coach to help them achieve goals. I don’t know that I am the best at it, and sometimes it feels like you are always behind when trying to make sure everyone is taken care of, but that’s also what keeps me striving forward!
The biggest success stories are seeing those team members grow in their roles, and then grow beyond those roles. Seeing them promoted into new, challenging, and rewarding roles. Our incredible Customer Service Team Leads are a perfect example of that. Seeing each of them grow into management roles and then help build up their own team members is truly inspiring.
All of my success is owed directly to our incredible team!
What’s a “typical” workday look like for you? Even if tasks change daily, we’d love to hear more about what your day-to-day responsibilities and activities look like.
My work days are filled with problem-solving, process improvement, coaching, KPI reviews, and of course, everyone’s favorite – meetings! (I might be weird, but I actually love meetings; collaborating and improving things is awesome!)
We have a large team in Customer Service, so my day really just revolves around making sure they are successful and that our team is continuing to make progress towards our goals. We really try to identify customer needs and the trends driving them to make sure we always have answers and can solve any of the possible problems you run into when dealing with technology!
What’s the coolest trip you’ve ever taken?
Ireland for sure. My wife and I went there for our honeymoon, and we are both dying to go back. We drove across the country and visited a plethora of gorgeous places, though I think staying in a castle tower was definitely one of the highlights!
We both love the rain, which made it a perfect trip, to the confusion of many locals who wondered why we were so excited for each rainy day we got!
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Pad Thai, hands down!
Greatest. Food. Of. All. Time.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Anything creative is where I love to spend my time. Art, writing, woodworking, animation, anything that engages creativity. Love a board game, movie, or good book as well!
My wife says I have too many hobbies, but I think that just keeps things interesting!
If you could only have three apps on your phone, which ones would you keep and why?
- Audible, any chance to consume another great story.
- Trello, keeps my life organized and productive.
- Can I be super lame and say Slack for my last one? A bit of a workaholic.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a director in the movie industry. I made a lot of home videos as a kid, true cinematic masterpieces no doubt! I spent a few great years in Boston and LA working on movies, and it was a terrific experience. You never know where life is going to take you, but telling great stories, in any medium, is still my first love.
What’s your favorite part about working at FMG?
It sounds cliche, but it really is the culture. It was the thing that blew me away when I first started and still does to this day. The ability to effect change across the company and help improve things on every level is the greatest! Then, being able to own up to mistakes, laugh at yourself, and find a new solution, you don’t get that chance at every company.
So much of my, and all managers’, days are taken up by finding ways to make sure each and every person in our company is successful, and that really is amazing. It’s easy to assume business is all about the numbers, but at FMG I have seen that it truly is all about the people.
