It’s time for our “Meet the Team” blog for April, and we got to chat with People Team Coordinator, Lexie Williams. She is such an integral part of our team at FMG, but when she isn’t crushing it at work, she loves to spend time outdoors, play tennis and is even planning a trip to the US Open this summer! To learn more about Lexie, you can keep reading! ?

Where do you live, and what’s your favorite part about your city? We love hearing more about where our team lives, especially with everyone working remotely!

I live in Utah! I have lived here most of my life, besides a few years that I spent in Ohio. I may be biased but I really think Utah is the best place to live – there is soooo much to do! My husband and I have a lot of hobbies; boating, snowmobiling, dirt biking, golfing, hiking, snowshoeing, playing tennis, skiing etc. We are BIG outdoors people and so I don’t think we would survive outside of Utah. ; )

As the People Team Coordinator, you have the opportunity to work closely with the fantastic team members at FMG! How did you get started with this role, and what is your favorite aspect?

If you know me, you know I am most happy when I am surrounded by people. I love spending time with others & doing all I can to see them happy. When I first started college, I worked at a small start-up company where I got to wear a lot of different hats. One of those hats was introducing New Hires on their first day and conducting occasional interviews – It was by far my favorite thing. After I left that company, I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in People Operations. I really enjoy helping others feel successful and happy at work because I know how important it is to a person’s overall happiness and success in life. The FMG Team is an amazing group to work with!

When working remotely, how do you stay motivated and focused throughout the day? Can you describe what a typical day is like?

I LOVE working from home, there are so many good aspects to it. However, it can be hard to stay motivated some days. I have found that the small things help keep me focused and having fun! Some examples are; playing Morgan Wallen on the Alexa, eating some goldfish for a midday snack, going on walks, sipping on a Perk Energy, laughing with my team members about our weekends. – It all adds up!

We’re so excited for warmer weather … so is it too early to be thinking about summer? ?Do you have any exciting plans or trips coming up in the next few months?

I can’t wait another second for summer, this winter in Utah has gone on for way too long! My husband and I are huge tennis fans, we play tennis at least 2-3 times a week if we can. This upcoming fall we are planning on going to the US Open in New York! We are super stoked to watch all the big-name players. We have a goal to go to all the national tennis tournaments across the world, this is the first one we are checking off the list!

What do you like to do in your free time?

Most of my free time right now is going towards working on our fixer-upper house we bought last year. Last summer we completely re-did the entire inside of the home and now this upcoming spring and summer we plan to work on the outside (yay?) – we are exhausted! BUT when I get to spend my free time where I like… I would be playing tennis! There is nothing like hitting the right shot or serving the perfect serve.

If you had one extra hour in the day, what would you spend it doing?

If I had an extra hour in the day, I would probably use it to take a nap! HAHA! I always feel like there is something I should be doing when I lay down and try to take a nap. I am the worst nap taker but I love them when my mind can relax and let me sleep for a few hours.

If you had a free plane ticket to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Right now, my next bucket list trip is to go to Europe. I have always wanted to go see all the famous sites and eat all the yummy chocolate. (I am a big chocolate girl) I have this dream of taking a few weeks to explore, ride the train to each city and try to see everything that I can!

Have you ever met a famous person? If so, who was it, and where were you?

Sadly, I must just never be in the right place at the right time because I have never met anyone famous. My in-laws just got back from Hawaii though, and they said they played tennis with Matthew McConaughey and I was very very jealous.

What is your favorite part about working at FMG?

My favorite part about working at FMG is probably my team I work with and Liz Norman. The People Team is the best group of ladies I could ever ask to work with. I always feel like they have my back and we work hard to support each other, laugh with each other & grow together. Liz is also an amazing example and manager – she took a chance on me when I first started at FMG and has taught me SO much in my time here! My team and I look up to her in a lot of ways.

What is the best piece of advice that you have ever received? It can be work-related or just great life advice!

The best advice I ever got was from ‘Forget Me Not’ flowers. They are small, little, blue flowers that can be easily missed if you aren’t looking for them. The advice that these little flowers give us is to not overlook the small things in life because sometimes they are the most beautiful!
