What made you decide to choose FMG Suite for your marketing?

I started looking for a new website solution about a year ago. I was in the process of working with another website company when I learned about FMG Suite. I was halfway through the build when I really started to understand the benefits of the full suite of FMG Suite tools, so I changed course. FMG Suite provided such a strong, complete digital marketing solution, so it made sense to start fresh with the integrated set of tools.

Tell us about your first successes with the tools?

Well, it was pretty simple. I uploaded my contacts and the first newsletter went out. Someone on my email list wrote back that he had been meaning to speak with me about his company’s 401(k) plan and he made an appointment. It’s really been a culmination of small events like that where someone sees the newsletter and it reminds them to reach out.

What about the larger account you just landed with the newsletter?

One client had been speaking with his brother about me because his brother is retiring soon. Unbeknownst to me, he had been forwarding my email newsletters to his brother. His brother started poking around my website and then decided to call. We met and it turns out that he has a $2 million account he’d like to transfer. I believe that the newsletter had a lot to do with him ultimately reaching out.

That’s great. Any other newsletter wins?

Tomorrow I’m meeting with a referral that has $300,000 to invest. That person came to me through a client that recommended he check out my website. I think the little touches that the newsletter provides remind people to bring up my services and result in more business over time. Many of my clients respond directly to the emails and say “You should call so-and-so” or “This reminded me that I need to schedule a meeting.” It’s been a great source of leads for us.

What do clients say about your website?

I have gotten great feedback about my FMG Suite website. My clients really seem to like it and share it with their friends and family, which certainly supports the referrals process. As a matter of fact, I got one email a few weeks back that said “Hey Jim, wow! Your website is really looking awesome!” He mentioned the he had viewed some specific videos on the website, which was great because I know he spent some time on there and was really engaged.

What was the trick to these successes?

It was a slow start, but I’ve been building my email list for 3 to 4 months and sending out the newsletter each month to my contacts. I try to add the email addresses of everyone I meet with and over time, it has really paid off.

Distill Your Niche

"...while they can’t turn back the clock and address these issues beforehand - such as increasing their spouse’s life insurance or saving more - there are ways to take control and feel more confident in their future.
When working with widows, there are a few first steps I recommend taking:

1. Get Organized
Whether or not you handled all of your family’s finances, some, or none, the first step is to organize your financial documents. Before you can determine how to budget and what steps to take, you have to first understand where you stand financially. If you are having trouble translating your investment account statements, a financial advisor can help you understand what your documents mean. You’ll want to copy and safeguard your important documents and review life insurance policies with a trusted advisor.

2. Budget for a Single Income
More than half of widows have difficulty adjusting to a single income. This may because they haven’t reevaluated their bills and expenses and adjusted..."

Unique Articles in Your Voice

"...More than likely, you have a clear understanding of your relationship with your doctor or your dentist. You pay a fee and, in return, you receive a service, including advice and recommendations based on your individual situation. It would make sense then for your relationship with your financial advisor to be the same; but for many, that’s not the case.

At Financial Guideposts, we’ve noticed a trend: that the general public does not understand the relationship they have with their financial advisor. We want to change that. We believe there are two critical aspects you should understand when working with a financial advisor: how he or she gets paid and what services he or she provides..."
